Family and friends of Henry Scot-Simmonds face an agonising race against time to save the life of the popular 24-year-old ex Pates Grammar School pupil. Henry has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. His only chance of survival is to have a bone marrow transplant.
Henry’s parents and sister Georgina are appealing for people to register as donors, in the hope Henry and other patients like him will be able find a suitably matched bone marrow donor.
The family was devastated when Henry was diagnosed at the end of July. Henry, a civil engineer from Charlton Kings, had become gradually more and more unwell as he worked in London. He carried on at work until he finally collapsed.
Henry was taken to St Thomas’ Hospital where he was quickly diagnosed with the aggressive form of leukaemia. He is already undergoing intensive chemotherapy but needs a bone marrow transplant within months to save his life.
You really can help… If you are aged between 18-40, in good health, weigh over 8st (51kgs), not severely overweight and willing to help save the life of any patient in need of a transplant, then you may be able to help Henry, and others, by joining the Anthony Nolan bone marrow register at:
